Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

Sometimes there is no other choice.

 Chapter 7 Bankruptcy can be a solution when you have exhausted all other options. It is not a step to be taken lightly. Good people can find themselves in desperate financial situations. Anessa will explore your options with you. She is here here to listen, gather the facts, and treat you with care in stressful circumstances.  Sliding scale fees insure you can complete the entire process for a reasonable fee so you can have a fresh start and get on with your life.

The Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Process

The first step is to meet with Anessa so she can best advise you on how to proceed. A standard bankruptcy includes these steps:
  • Meet for a consultation about your situation in person on by phone. It is best to have a recent credit report for the consultation.
  • If the decision is made to go forward, Anessa will prepare all the necessary documents and then we will meet again to review them.
  • You will be required to take a credit counseling class designed to help you avoid future financial difficulties. This can be completed online.
  • Then the documents are filed and an Automatic Stay goes into effect which prevents creditors from further collection actions.
  • A few weeks later, we will go before to a hearing before the trustee in charge of your case.
  • You will then we required to take a Debtor Education class. Again, this can be completed online.
  • Typically, about three months from filing your case, the Bankruptcy Discharge is processed by the court and your case is closed. You will now have a fresh financial start.

The Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Pricing


Sliding Scale Law prices are based on your income. Anessa's standard price for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy is $1350 plus filing fees. Depending on your income, Anessa will reduce her charges to $650 - $1100. Payment plans may be available.

​Court filing fees for Chapter 7 bankruptcy are currently $335, which may be paid in installments to the court. In certain cases for low income debtors, the Court may waive the filing fee.

You may discover that bankruptcy is not a good option for you. Anessa may also be able to assist you in settling or defending against collections actions or offer help with other consumer debt issues.
